River Glen Trio LIVE at Music Night on Jupiter

 —  —

Music Night on Jupiter, 4314 Rosanna Dr , Allison Park, PA

We first met Iowan River Glen when he was touring the country with our friend Joe Stevens. River performed with Joe at the first iteration of the Cellar at Pittsburgh Winery, and we were blown away by his multi-instrumental abilities, singing and songwriting. Since then, we have run across River in locations far distant from Pittsburgh, including New Orleans where River played violin in a special ensemble piece commissioned by the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra. Let's just say the man can play.

We are very happy to finally be able to bring River back to Western PA. Recently, River has completed "As Above, So Below." a concept album featuring over 150 (!!) musicians from Iowa. Not to let the cat out of the bag, but we understand that the recording is in line for a very prestigious honor (to be announced soon). Take a listen and you will understand why. River's quartet will be performing selections from the new album, featuring cajon, upright bass, guitar, violin, mandolin , and powerhouse vocal harmonies. Maybe the best part: The Quartet features Pittsburgh's own Nicole Steele on percussion. MNOJ loves Nicole.

We hope to present the band outside on the Hay Wagon Stage. We will only fill 40 adult slots in advance as a hedge against bad weather. If Mother Nature cooperates we will open more slots closer to the day of the party. If it is wet we will move indoors. If we are outside, kids under 18 attend free with their adults. This is not a food event - so eat beforehand - but feel free to bring snacks. BYO bottles and chairs/blankets.

100% of contributions are paid forward to the performers and sound tech. Support live local music!

Celebrate Life!

RIVER GLEN: River was born at home alongside the Mississippi River in the Driftless Area of Dubuque, Iowa. He was homeschooled, primarily on music, beginning the Suzuki method on violin before he was three years old. River’s childhood was filled with adventures traveling the U.S. with his parents and siblings in their kinda-sorta folksy bluegrass band, The One Hat Band. From busking on street corners to playing the main stage at summer festivals, River earned his chops before losing all of his baby teeth. Over a decade later, while attending the University of Iowa, River got his heart broken for the first time; an experience that jump-started his path to becoming the prolific lyricist he is today. River’s songwriting strikes a delicate balance of pop-appeal and lyrical substance. From wonderings about love, family, and belonging, to the celebration of death and loss as a natural part of life, River critiques modern pop-culture through the lens of familiar, traditional folk themes.
