River Glen & Megan Bee LIVE on Jupiter! (Pittsburgh, PA)

 — (EDT, UTC-04) — (EDT, UTC-04)

Jupiter House Concerts

House Concerts Done Right! We are back! After I canceled all of our shows in June and July due to my spine issues I thought that MNOJ would be dark this summer. Surprise! I am still limited physically, but my Iowan friend River Glen reached out and offered to do all of the hard work if we could host him and Megan Bee. Done deal. I can't wait to see everyone here for this Music Party. Yinz know how this goes: Parking starts at 7, music @ 8. BYOE (everything - beverages, snacks, chairs, etc. ). Supervised and attentive kids attend free along with their adults. I will send out more information in an email to all pre-registered attendees closer to the date of the event.

River Glen is a multi-instrumentalist singer-songwriter who promotes and creates a sense of real human connection through his live performances and original music, through songs that anabolize the Anthropocene. Born-at-home and homeschooled near Dubuque, IA, River's playful brand of poignant folk-pop features lyricism that is evocative, intellectual, heart-centered, and cleverly rhythmic. Singing with powerful, dexterous vocals, River is a festival child turned musical storyteller, a natural entertainer. When performing in and around Iowa, River is often backed by his full band, whereas his solo performances tend to tastefully utilize a looper pedal to incorporate his chops on guitar, mandolin, and violin. A former Iowa Arts Council Fellow and a former Iowa Public Radio Artist of the Month, River has shared the stage with or opened for artists that range from his own mother to more widely known acts such as REO Speedwagon. In June of 2026, River & His Band performed three of their songs while backed by the Dubuque Symphony Orchestra, a collaboration that is slated to continue in 2027. At this very moment, it's likely that River's driving to his next gig. Follow River's art and adventures across social media @riverglenmusic and at www.riverglenmusic.com

Megan Bee Evocative Folk-Americana with A Sense of place. Singer-songwriter Megan Bee crafts evocative folk-Americana music with a sense of place. Her lyrics, woven with nature imagery and wanderlust, reflect her experiences as an environmental educator and seasoned vagabond. Based in the rolling hills of Athens, Ohio, her sound is influenced by the collision of modern songwriting and Appalachian folk. Over the past decade, she has toured relentlessly by minivan, connecting with audiences through personal stories, road tales, nature facts, and light-hearted humor. With albums like Cottonwood and Waiting, she has received acclaim from Americana UK, No Depression Magazine, and The USA Songwriting Competition. In Fall 2025, she released her much-anticipated fifth album, Fiction. https://meganbeemusic.com/

WURK w/ River & His Band LIVE September 19 at The Bur Oak

Doors 7PM / Show 8PM $10 adv / $15 DOS 21+ 🎟 Tickets at theburoakmadison.com

Wurk is a 6-piece funk-fusion group which formed in Madison, WI in 2016. Inspired by Umphrey’s McGee, Snarky Puppy, Lettuce, Phish and many others, their innovative original songs and ambitious interpretations of popular covers offer an impressive blend of jazz fusion, prog rock, jam rock and more, all with the consistent underlying grooves of funk. Wurk has opened for acts including The Motet and Andy Frasco & the U.N. and helped pack venues across the Midwest. Described by Isthmus Magazine as “summer-jam-perfect” and two-time recipient of the Madison Area Music Association (MAMA) Artist of the Year Award (2019, 2022), Wurk fills the gap between complexity and groove, impressing fans and keeping them dancing all night.

After the 2023 release of "As Above, So Below", a record that features over 150 singers/musicians from Iowa, River Glen is putting his group center-stage again for the spotlight. River & His Band are a powerhouse of talent; with dexterous vocals, rich harmonies, flashy musicianship, and deft lyricism that's clever, poignant, and heart-centered. Their original music is best described as folk-pop/folk-rock, with tiny infusions of jazz and hip-hop. All of it with a socially-conscious delicate grit.

A DO-NOT-MISS LIVESTREAM CONCERT!

WE ARE HERE - A CELEBRATION OF IOWA MUSIC
The pandemic has had a devastating impact on America's arts sector and has asked that artists pivot and adapt their efforts. And that's exactly why this event was created; to demonstrate and deliver a top-notch, standard-bearing livestream concert that showcases a variety of artists from across Iowa!

The mission of this free-to-all performance is to promote awareness about "the mental health benefits that the arts provide to the public by combating the ill effects of isolation and loneliness associated with COVID-19" (Americans for the Arts) and to deliver a call to action to music lovers in Iowa and beyond about the importance of actively engaging with and supporting the local/regional artists whom they love as these artists adapt their art-making in response to our current constraints.

This event is made possible with generous support and funding from the Iowa Arts Council: https://iowaculture.gov/arts

Weekly Car Concerts!

That's right, folks, every Monday at 12PM CST you can watch me perform live from my car via Facebook Live!

Just go to my music page (www.facebook.com/RiverGlenMusic) and 'like' the page in order to receive notifications and updates.

Furthermore, each week's performance will be based on a theme that is suggested by you and other members of the audience. It's lots of fun and I hope you'll make a habit of joining me!

"Press On"

Times are strange for a music maker. While holed up for this winter I'm releasing some new material with the help of an app that let's me be a whole band. Also, songs in 3/4 time are underrepresented today, so here's one called "Press On".

KICKSTARTER CAMPAIGN!!!

RIVER GLEN & 50 IOWA ARTISTS!

Hello everyone! River here. This past year I received the honor of being named a 2017-2018 Iowa Arts Council Fellow. In this role I am advocating for creating music that is communal and truly Iowa-grown. I am working to create an album of music that will feature over 50 Iowa artists from across the state. In a sense, it will serve as a sonic snapshot of the multitude of voices and musical traditions that exist across Iowa. I believe that art is community and I want to showcase many of the current and former Iowa-based artists who I've learned from and grown alongside during these past 25 years.

In order to book recording time for these artists, and to pay them for their time and talent, I ask each of you to contribute to raise $7,000. Crowdfunding efforts such as this have become an essential part of funding projects in the art world, so I'm calling on you to share this campaign and contribute what you're able. For many, this means pitching in $20 to purchase yourself a copy of this album in advance. For those of you who can play an even bigger role, please contribute more. I've made it worth your while as you'll see on my Kickstarter page

Love to you all.

Our 2018 submission for...

NPR's Tiny Desk Contest!

It's a pleasure to present to you our submission for NPR's Tiny Desk Contest 2018. "As Above, So Below" is a song loosely inspired by the concept of The Hero's Journey. We recorded this live performance in the recital hall of the Voxman music building at the University of Iowa and were very blessed to work alongside the talents of Joshua De Lanoit (videographer) and James Edel (sound engineer) to capture this magic so we could share it with you. Please enjoy, share this video, and check out our upcoming performances to experience our music in-person. Much love to all!
